Hello! My name is Alexandra and I'm the owner and lead coordinator of Marry On Weddings. I'm so excited that you're here.
For as long as I can remember, I've always been a creator - whether it's trying new recipes, writing stories, redecorating my room or planning my next birthday party. I've since taken that love of creating and turned it into planning and designing beautiful weddings.
As a wedding planner, I am known for my love of all things simple but elegant. My style can best be described as rustic chic mixed with classic French opulence. Much of my taste is inspired by nature and my love of old world traditions, which stems from my study of English literature in university.
Like many professionals, I followed a pretty linear path: got the Bachelor's degree, got the Master's degree and got recruited by the federal government. But two years into a job I hated I decided the golden handcuffs was not the life for me. So I fell back on my lifelong passion for planning and pursued official certifications through QC Event School and the Wedding Planners Institute of Canada.
Since then I have worked as an Events Coordinator for the Chamber of Commerce in Brandon, Manitoba, where I lived briefly for eight months. During that time I planned dozens of events, including conferences, luncheons and a fundraising gala for 500 people. I learned valuable skills during this experience and they continue to serve me well with managing my clients' weddings.
My dog Milo is my whole world. He is a Husky-German Shepherd mix with a gentle heart and tons of energy. Initially I had fostered him but 10 days later I decided to adopt him. The shortest foster fail in history!
It's a well-known fact among my friends and family that I love Jane Austen. I've read the novels and watched almost every movie adaption, my favourite being the 2005 version of Pride & Prejudice. You can bet I'd be wearing regency gowns and bonnets if they were still in fashion.
In my spare time I love to bake. It's one of my favourite ways to make people feel special. I made my mom a semi-naked red velvet cake from scratch for her 60th birthday and cupcakes for my friend's bridal shower. I'm not much of a decorator, but hey it's what's on the inside that counts right?
